The Stealth KDF85 Carbon Filter is for reverse osmosis users who have city water which contains chloramines rather than standard chlorine. 

Chloramines are not removed from the water by a standard carbon filter. Not all cities are adding chloramines, but many are switching to it because they are more stable and last longer in the plumbing after the water leaves the filtration plant.

Why be concerned? Chloramines are more detrimental to the beneficial innoculants in your garden!

KDF85 Carbon contains medical grade catalytic granular activated carbon that effectively removes the chloramines from your water supply! You should be able to check with your municipal water supply to see if they are using chloramines in your area.
