Home > Hydroponic Systems and Equipment
Hydroponics is the art of growing
plants without soil, relying on liquid nutrients for nutrition. Even
the simplest hydroponics system can yield incredible results when
compared to conventional soil cultivation.
There are 4 major types of hydroponics
systems. (See further explanations below.)
Here you'll also find Pumps and
Plumbing, or Reservoirs and Trays, for making your own system or
to replace worn-out parts.
Aeroponics and Cloning Machines:
Plant roots hang suspended outside
of the pot and are misted with a nutrient solution. Salad greens,
such as lettuce, thrive in this environment.
Deep Water Culture Hydroponics
Systems:
A.K.A. Passive
hydroponics. This is the simplest method of hydroponics.
The plant is placed into a
plant tray which stands in a reservoir of nutrient
solution.
Ebb and Flow Hydroponics
Systems:
A pump
floods plant roots with nutrient solution, then drains back to the
reservoir. Also known as Flood and Drain Hydroponics
or Fill / Drain Hydroponics.
Top-feed Drip Hydroponics
Systems:
Plants are placed in a growing medium. A pump
delivers a stream of nutrient solution onto the top of the growing
medium. Also know as Drip Hydroponics or Top Watering
Irrigation.
Hydroponics Maintenance:
Maintenance supplies to help keep your hydroponics system
clean.
Pumps and Plumbing:
Parts and pieces that run
hydroponics systems. Use as replacement parts or to build your own.
Reservoirs and Plant Trays:
Reservoirs for holding nutrient
solution and trays to hold plants.
Rotating Hydroponic
Gardens:
Rotating hydroponics gardens are fast becoming the
garden of choice for the city folks as they allow you to grow
huge gardens in a limited space.
