Neptune's Harvest Crab Shell is an excellent organic source of nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium (23%), and magnesium (1.33%). The high calcium content and slow release nitrogen and phosphorous makes this a good fertilizer when planting bulbs in spring and fall. A safe, natural slow-release fertilizer, Crab Shell also helps with nematode and fungus problems. 

Crab Shell is high in Chitin (Kite-en), which promotes the growth of Chitin eating bacteria in the soil. The exoskeletons of fungus and nematode eggs are high in chitin. Crab Shell helps to create a hostile environment for the fungus and nematodes by feeding the biological life that eats chitin and chitin based organisms.

An added bonus of Neptune's Harvest Organic Crab Shell is it's affect on Japanese Beetle grubs. Grubs in general, have jaws made of Chitin, which is dissolved by chitinase bacteria, killing off grubs at the same time!

Since it is 100% organic, this dry fertilizer won't burn plants or roots and it has no offensive odor!

Application Rate:

Gardens use 3 lbs per 100 square feet.
Row crops use 1 to 2 lbs per 100 square feet.
Trees use 1 lb per inch of tree diameter. Best sprinkled around the drip line of the tree on larger trees, or in the hole at planting.
Compost booster use 3 to 6 ounces per cubic foot.
Lawns / Turf use 10 lbs per 1000 square feet.
Potting Soils use 2% of volume by weight - Geraniums like the calcium!
Bedding Plants use 1 ounce per tray.
Seed Beds use 1 lb per 100 square feet.
Bulbs use 1 tablespoon mixed in soil under the bulb.
